After a long professional stay in the Azores archipelago as marine biologists, where cetacean (whales & dolphins) were motive of scientific and tourism observation, we have now directed our efforts to the setting up of a leisure, tourism, and educational centre in Sagres (Algarve - Portugal). Simple reasons such as an immense will to discover, a strong vocation to the sea and the conservation of nature were the basis for the creation of this project in early 2005.

Ricardo Silva, marine biologist. Manager and co-founder of Mar ilimitado. He started early as aquarist. During the course of his life, he acquired diverse professional and leisure experience related to the sea. He studied in the Algarve University and made his final graduation thesis in the Azores. He worked in 2 whale watching companies, as skipper and marine biologist, where he also worked with underwater image professionals. He also was a skipper in Azores University in the aim of several scientific projects, namely with cetacean, fish telemetry and scientific diving. Ricardo will be your skipper onboard: you may count with his experience and sympathy.

Sara Magalhães, marine biologist. Manager and co-founder of Mar ilimitado, she graduated in Algarve University. She made her final graduation thesis in the Azores University, where she stayed as a research fellow. During that time, she was involved in 3 different scientific projects: one about the development of the regional whale watching industry, other about marine protected areas and another one about the ecology and population structure of sperm whales and bottlenose dolphins. She has many years of experience working at the sea and in planning and running scientific projects and educational lectures. Sara will probably be welcoming you on land or onboard, and she will be happy to answer any questions you might have.
