Step aboard and discover our marine wildlife, from cetacean to seabirds, pelagic fish or even sea turtles!

Cetaceans (whales, dolphins and porpoises) are the only marine mammals that live all their lives in the aquatic environment. In our coast several species occur year round, some regularly and others seasonally or occasionally.

During spring and summer, the species we watch more often are the Common dolphin, followed by Harbour porpoises, Bottlenose dolphins and Risso's dolphins. Sometimes we have other wild visitors such as Minke whales, Killer whales or Striped dolphins!

Seabirds are one of the greatest ornithological attractions of the south coast of Portugal. This area is not only frequented by numerous wintering species but also flown by migrating ones - a show that can be unforgettable. Many seabirds have pelagic habits, meaning that they live most of their lives at sea. This is why we can only observe them offshore.

During our trips we frequently watch Northern gannets, Cory's shearwaters, European storm petrels or Great cormorants, among others. More rarely we observe Great skuas or Wilson's storm petrels. If you are a keen birdwatcher, you don't want miss this!

These trips do not have a previously defined route. This mainly depends on factors such as weather conditions or last known animals' location.

Trip duration: 1:30h

Don't forget: Bring your camera. If you are a keen birdwatcher, bring your binoculars.

For more details on our observations, please check our logbook.

Note: Mar Ilimitado cannot guarantee the observation of wild animals.
